New Youth Orchestra in the Midlands

Spires Music, which brings adult professional and amateur musicians together to perform concerts across Coventry and Warwickshire, plans to create a full youth symphony orchestra, for players aged between 11 and 21 who have already reached a good standard on their instruments.

The aim is to put together an orchestra of at least 40 top young musicians from Coventry, Warwickshire and even further afield, and recruiting has already started, with a view to staging a New Year's concert in early January 2012. Rehearsals are being held in the Old Library, Leamington Spa, with the active support of Bath Place Community Venture.

The Veggie Table Cafe will remain open until 8:00pm on Thursday evenings for refreshments.

This adds to the growing use of our building for musical activities, with Steel Drum lessons available on Thursday nights and Warwickshire County Council School Music Service's using the the Old Library to deliver music tuition.
