Press Release re Bath Place Site

Extract from BPCV press release on 19th August 2013:

"We have been made aware of the announcement late last week that Warwickshire County Council has placed Bath Place 'on the market' and assigned a local agent to handle it's potential sale for an as yet to be established sum.

The site has been registered as an Asset of Community Value under the Localism Act 2011 which means that there is a legally binding moratorium on any sale until at least January 4, 2014. We will be using this time to carefully build our case and work towards presenting a realistic, viable and sustainable proposal for the site.

We believe strongly that the long-term Social Value of a rebuilt community resource far outweighs any other option and we are very concerned (again) about the potential loss/demolition of such a long serving public asset and such an integral part of Leamingtons history and heritage. We also feel that our vision is completely in line with the Old Town regeneration and footfall goals of Warwick District Council, the County Council and the Mary Portas project.

As you may know we have conducted an extensive survey and have found that there is not only a need for Bath Place but a strong wish that we continue as a local, grassroots community organisation in our original home."
